STOWE, VT – April 13th 2021 – Springer-Miller Systems is excited to expand its partnership with Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel (KBH) by implementing Teres POS to power the property’s Food & Beverage operations. Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel, a beachfront resort in Maui, Hawaii, is undergoing its first major renovation after being open for 50+ years. The renovation, known as the “Kealaula” Property Enhancement Project, will not only upgrade multiple rooms and wings of the property but will also include the opening of a new oceanfront restaurant. With brand new facilities being put in place for their signature restaurant, HuiHui, KBH wanted to utilize upgraded technology to provide higher guest service levels.
Having been a Springer-Miller Systems user since 2000 with SMS|Host, KBH looked to Springer-Miller for a new Point of Sale system to meet their needs. Jason Kayatani, KBH Director of Restaurants, wanted to have mobile capability from their POS system that operates on the beach and across multiple restaurants and bars. Teres, Springer-Miller’s POS System, met all the criteria.
With Teres POS, servers can carry tablets out on the beach lawn to take food and drink orders and have them sent directly to the kitchen or bar before they even leave their section, making their operations faster and smoother. The servers immediately embraced the tablets and even wear them on straps that hang over their aprons. Kayatani said, “The tablets have provided a 180 degree switch for the better. Having a younger staff accustomed to technology had made the switch easy; they treat the tablets like their smartphones and caught on very fast during training.”
Located on the beautiful beaches of Maui, Hawaii, KBH is the center for many weddings, banquets, and other gatherings. The mobile capabilities of Teres allow servers to take their tablets out on the floor of an event to take orders- cutting out the hassle of extra setup beforehand and worrying about additional cabling.
With COVID-19 restrictions, on-site training wasn’t possible. Kayatani said virtual training was another factor in choosing Teres and was “nervous at first, but the service was so attentive we didn’t skip a beat.” The Springer-Miller team made sure virtual training was just as supportive and functional as traditional in-person training. Springer-Miller trainers were patient and remained available for 24/7 support during the roll-out. KBH even set up a dedicated wifi network for Teres to make their service even stronger. Kayatani stated, “Teres is the future for Springer-Miller Systems and an awesome product”
